Kalymnos, the island that is widely known for its

belongs to Dodecanese islands group of Aegean Sea.

Kalymnos is also
connected with ferries with the port of Piraeus, as well as with other islands.

Emporios
It is considered
one of the best beaches of the island. Tamarisk

*Massouri beach
This amazing sandy
beach constitutes popular tourist resort as it is well-organized with numerous
sunbeds and umbrellas. Additionally, the bather can enjoy water sports facilities.
*Myrties beach
Myrties beach is a
pebbly beach with shallow water. On the
beach there are umbrellas and sun beds for rent and restaurants, cafeterias and
rooms to rent.

Sightseeing
*Cave of Seven
Virgins
It is known as the
Sanctuary of the Nymphs because it used to be a worshiping place. According to
a tradition, the cave got its name from seven maidens who entered it to protect
themselves from a pirate invasion. The findings from the cave are currently
displayed in the Archaeological Museum of Kalymnos.

Museum of Kalymnos is situated in Pothia. A large number of findings such as marble sculptures, pottery, tools and
others unfold the historical and
cultural evolution of the island.
*Municipal Nautical
Museum
At the Municipal
Navy Museum , the visitors can learn about the maritime tradition of the island
and the history and methods of sponge fishery. Also there are objects from
ancient shipwrecks, useful tools for sponge fishery and a great number of photos
and documents that concern the progress
and development of the diving method.
*Monastery of Agios
Savvas
The monastery is perched high on the hill above Pothia. The
church has typically beautiful decoration, and the view is very good. Agios
Savvas is considered the patron saint of
the island.
Activities
Mountain climbing
or the donkey track walk from Pothia, are
great ways of discovering the countryside and its rich flora and fauna.
There are many easy
routes for starters of climbing as well
as more difficult routes for more adventurous.
There are many cliffs . The best
climbing spot is around the village of Massouri. You can either get your own
climbing equipment or rent from the many climbing clubs and shops you will find
on the island.
Festivals
A Rock Climbing
Festival takes place every September. It
is world-famous and attracts top climbers from all over the world!
